Gwen Rodriguez was raised in Queens, New York. In 1993 she attended and graduated and obtained her First cosmetology license from The Learning Institute of Beauty Sciences. In 1998 she opened her first salon in Jamaica, Queens called Salon Exclusives. During this time Gwen had some of her styles featured in national hair magazines such as Salin Passion and Sophisticates Hair Magazine.
A few years later she relocated to Richmond, Virginia. While in Richmond, she obtained her second cosmetology license along with an Instructors license. In 2007 Gwen opened New Beginnings Salon & Hair Academy. During this time Gwen was one of the first to install lace wigs, having clients travel from Baltimore, Maryland and from Norfolk, Virginia.
Gwen has always enjoyed servicing clientele who suffer from hairloss and she has often been told that she has growing hands. Gwen specializes in several different weave techniques including a basic sew in, Malaysian technique, fusion technique and glue ins.
In 2017, Gwen found Glam Chix,LLC. Her desire is to make every client feel like a celebrity. Glam Chix specializes in hair bundles and hair bundle installations.
